parades and fancy balls, but were crucial to keeping morale high in
battle. Their steady beat helped keep troops advancing and helped
strike fear in the hearts of the opposition.

Foot
They were considered the
"Kings Own", they arrived in Boston in June of 1774. Their
history went back to William III, whom awarded them the "Emblem
of the Lion" for their gallant service. They were present on
Lexington Green for "the shot heard round the world". Many
of its officers and men were casualties of Lexington, Concord and
Bunker Hill.
