British 47th Foot Grenadier Guards
The
Grenadier Guards date back to 1656 when Charles II was exiled in
Flanders. In recognition of their service, they were issued the
distinctive bearskin hats. In 1773 the 47th regiment was deployed to
New Jersey and and Boston for service in quelling the growing
rebellion. On the morning of April 19,1775 they were part of the 1st
Brigade under Lt Col. Francis Smith, that marched on Lexington and
Concord.

The Royal
Warwickshire Regiment
They could just as easily be called
the "hard luck regiment". They were deployed to the
Caribbean in 1772 to quell disturbances by the local natives.
Although they were successful, the climate proved to be the real
enemy. Sickness greatly reduced their effectiveness. In November
1776 the Warwickshire was ordered to reinforce the garrison in New
York. They saw some action but the regiment was so sickly that by February
1777 they were ordered back home.
